Ion Creangă
Local author from Târgu Neamţ, Neamț County, Romania
Ion Creangă (1837–1889) grew up in the village of Humulești near Târgu Neamț in Moldavia, and became a priest, a teacher and a much-loved storyteller. His memoir of his childhood is a classic of Romanian literature.
