The Pilgrim's Progress

Dreamed up in a Bedford jail cell, this allegory follows Christian as he leaves the City of Destruction with a burden on his back and sets out for the Celestial City. On the way he crosses the Slough of Despond, fights Apollyon and is locked in Doubting Castle, and in the second part his wife Christiana follows with their children.
