Heart of Darkness

On a yacht anchored in the Thames estuary at dusk, the sailor Marlow tells how he once took a steamboat up the Congo for a Belgian trading company. Deep in the interior waits Kurtz, the company's star ivory agent, and what Marlow finds there exposes the violence behind Europe's civilizing talk.
