## Description

Addressed as a long prayer, Augustine tells how a gifted, restless young man from North Africa stole pears for fun, chased ambition through Carthage, Rome and Milan, and argued with every philosophy on offer. It reaches a garden in Milan where he finally hears a child's voice telling him to pick up and read.
