## Description

Zane Grey's first novel tells the story of a heroine of his mother's family: Betty Zane, at Fort Henry on the Ohio River, where Wheeling stands today, during the siege of 1782, one of the last battles of the American Revolution. When the fort's gunpowder ran low, the legend goes, Betty ran through gunfire to bring more from her brother's cabin. A frontier romance built on family history, and the first of his Ohio Valley trilogy.
