## Description

Herodotus of Halicarnassus sets out to explain how the Greeks and Persians came to war, and on the way tours Egypt's pyramids, Babylon's walls and the customs of Scythian nomads. The story builds to Marathon, Thermopylae and Salamis, told with an ear for gossip, oracles and the odd tall tale.
